Christmas 2008

Christmas this year was quite the Christmas. We slept over to Leon's Christmas Eve and the whole family was there except Casey. We had a good time playing games and having fun. Then Santa decided to come and we got up Christmas morning with more toys than anyone could imagine. We opened presents and ate breakfast. Mylee got a Spin and Bounce Pony and Jon got a new digital Camera. Then we went to Grandma Bea's for a little bit. After that we met Cozy and Joel in Cedar and headed up the mountain. We were trying to beat the storm that was coming in. The first part of the ride up the mountain wasn't bad. Then it got really bad. They closed the road pretty much right after we got up there. It ended up snowing 18 inches just christmas night. But we got up there and Mylee decided that she was going to have the Flu. So i dealt with throw up and Aunt Cozy helped out quite a bit. She finally quit throwing up Friday morning around 10:00. We played games and then Joel and Jon decided that they were going to go on a little snowmobile ride. They dressed warm but didn't take a flashlight or anything. They had been gone a while and we were playing cards, when someone piped up that they should have been back and it was getting dark. So Cozy got a little nervous. Me and her put on our snowboots and went outside to see if we could hear them. She turned to me and asked if we should go after them and i looked at her and asked if she was stupid. I told her that we would die if we did. So we went back inside and chilled for awhile. This whole time i kept saying prayers that they would be safe. 6:00 pm passed by, it was now dark. My brother piped up saying that he was getting nervous because the snow was too deep to go after them and we were litterally snowed in and couldn't get any vehicles out. So he asked my dad to say a prayer out loud and he agreed that he would. So we all gathered in the living room and my dad offered a prayer, and asked several times that Joel and Jon would be smart and use their heads under the circumstances. He ended the prayer and not but 1 minute later, Joel and Jon showed up. Cozy's snowmobile had broke down on them and they got stuck. But we are grateful that they were safe. Then Saturday we called and they said the road going from Duck creek to Cedar was going to be closed for at least 2 more days, so we were packing up to go through panguitch when Annie decided that she was going to have the flu. So it was a long ride home for her. And just out of panguitch Carter decided that he would have the flu too so Cozy had to dump her purse out and he threw up in it. But we made it home safely Saturday night. It was good to have all the family here from both sides. I love you all.

Mylee Turns 1 !!!!!!

On Sunday November 9th, Mylee turned 1 !!! Can you believe it? It makes me so sad to think that she is a big girl (so she thinks). I invited mine and jon's siblings and our parents and grandparents over and we had dinner and then cake and icecream. Mylee got spoiled with presents loving everyone she got. I decided that she doesn't need Santa Claus to come because she got so much for her birthday. When it came time to do her cake, it was her nap time. She started bawling when i put the cake in front of her. She didn't want anything to do with it. It was quite funny. I am glad that everyone that got to come came. I am thankful for such a BEAUTIFUL and HEALTHY baby. I love her with all my heart.

Well these are a week late but what the heck. This is the little deer i got on opening morning. We had gone with Jon's family camping out at Utah Mines near Indian peaks. Well we were kind of limited to where we could go because it was cold and we had Mylee, so we basically just cruised around in the pickup. It was 8 in the morning, opening morning and Turley called on the radio for Jon to tell us Misty had got a deer. So he told us that they were up to Atchison. So we got up there and Jon helped Turley clean it out and they were just getting it loaded when i spotted my buck up on the hill just coming over the top towards us. So Jon grabs the gun and off we go hiking straight up. Well i about DIED!!! I stopped and told Jon that i couldn't go any further and he told me that we only had to go a little more and we could probably see him. So I got up and started walking again. Well we seen him and Jon said, "if you want him then you better shoot now." I picked up the gun and couldn't even hold it up. I told Jon that he had to help me hold it. WOW - I KNOW - WHAT A WIMP I AM - So he helped me hold the front of the gun up and i closed my eyes and shot. I hit him right in the heart at about 200 to 250 yards. Lucky shot. But we ended up coming home Sunday afternoon and hunting here the rest of the time. Jon got him a little 1 x 3 on Tuesday night. We had quite a fun hunt this year.

Food Storage

So my Aunt Georgia and I discuss food storage quite a bit when we work together at 6 in the morning on Wednesdays and yesterday she brought me this paper that i am going to copy. It is From Hurricane Ike that hit. It smacked me in the face. I have a little bit and I keep working on it but WOW - not nearly enough as I need. So please read it and get prepared. I think it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Dear Friends: We have a 6'x6' hole in our roof, no electricity or running water, Trees down everywhere. How ever, because we listened to the counsel of our prophet we are prepared. In fact it seems to me that it's only the members of the church who seem to be calm, prepared, and helping one another with trees in roofs, flooding, etc. There is a POD or Point of Distribution in> Tomball where we live. There you get water and ice IF you have enough fuel to wait in the 3-hour lines. We don't have to do that because we have 3 full water barrels, 75 juice bottles filled with water, and our pool, which is dirty, but we use it to flush. It is very difficult to get gas. Police guard the stations when fuel is delivered and you might wait half a day to get up to the pump just to have them say, 'Too bad, we are out'. I am grateful that we have a generator. We run it 4 hours a day to keep our fridge and light. I am grateful that we have had fuel for it. You can't even by gas containers as they are rationed. We can only by bread once a week and limite d to 2 loaves at a time. Water is rationed by the case at the grocery store - 3 cases per family. The ATM machines do not have power. For the past 6 months I have stashed small bills away because I have had such a feeling of foreboding. We have >cash because of that. LISTEN TO THE SPIRIT. Get cash in small bills because the stores can't make change and credit and debit cards often don't work. I had to pay 5 dollars more for an item because they couldn't make change for me. and . . . PHONES ONLY WORK OCCASIONALY. Believe it or not...I have not had a bath in 4 days, Today was the first day I got to wash my hair with pool water. I haven't fixed my hair in a week!!! It just doesn't matter anymore. We cannot do laundry because we don't have water. So, we wear our clothes until they are literally disgusting. When we do finally get water we will have to boil it since it is contaminated.I am grateful for my parents. When we got low on generator fuel they drove 45 minutes to help us. They filled up their cans and brought us 10 gallons of fuel, which kept us going until this morning at 6:oo, am when we finally found some gas. A prepared Family and a loving extended family is the key to survival and making it through right now. I know that my parents would drive to the end of the earth to help me and it's nice knowing they are there. I know that I would do the same for my children. I want all of you to know that I have such a testimony of following the counsel of our living prophet. There really is safety and peace in your heart if you are prepared. Please get your generators, 5 gas cans full of gas, canned goods, baby items, baby wipes to bathe, and all the water you can store...even if you have to trip on it in your home. Have your lanterns, crank flashlights, tarps, rope, etc. ready to go because you never know when it will be your turn to endure the test. It's overwhelming, but it's going to be ok eventually. I have a> home, I have food, and I have water, because I listened to the counsel of the prophet. Please make sure you do the same. It's time to have your life in order. Tomorrow may be too late. "

The Favorite Car

This car is the car that causes fights at grandma's house when all the kids are there....it definitely gets used. Mylee thinks that she is quite the big girl now that she is big enough to sit it in, especially when its with her 2 favorites - Carter & Jaylee.

WOW!!! Finally Updating!

These pictures were taken a few weeks ago but they are the most updated ones i have f her....The Platt family got family pictures taken yesterday, so i will be putting them on sometime this week when we get them back...hopefully they turned out cute.

The night he left, Mylee decided that she wanted to be sick and was up all night. me and her finally fell asleep at 5:53am after her being uncomfortable all night, throwing up, and running a fever. We got about an hour and half later and was up for the rest of the day....but we had a great time and it was fun to get together will all the staheli clan.

Trip up the Mountain

On Friday Aug. 1st Aunt Cozy took Mylee and we went up to the mountain. Russ, Jaylee, Papa, Me, & Jonny left late in the afternoon and then Chana and Sara came up after chana got home from work. And let me just warn you, i am not a horse person. That trail in certain spots scared the holy poop out of me. I told Jon that i was NOT coming down that way. And to begin, Jon told me that this was only going to be an hour ride up to the top....boy was he lieing. We were about 1 1/2 hours into the ride and Leon told me that we only had about a 1/2 hour until we were to Big water. Well about 20 minutes later he told me the EXACT same thing. And the bad thing was that he was following me. Well we finally get down to this little meadow with a little stream and Leon gets off his horse and says "Well, where should we set up camp?" I looked at him and started laughing. I said, "Get your butt back on your horse and lets go to Big Water." Little did I know, we were there. So we all got off the horses and started fishing. Chana and Sara showed up about 20 minutes later and started fishing. I believe that i was the one that caught the most and the biggest. But holy crap, the mesquitos got me the best. My neck and back is still covered in big red welts. When we decided that we had enough fish to eat, we stopped fishing. Russ was our camp chef...cooking us potatoes and fish. It was delicious. As we went to bed on the grass, Sara started freaking out about ladybugs. Everybody just ignored her, thinking that she was way over exaggerating. Well we woke up the next morning and realized that maybe she wasn't. And i told them that the orange ladybugs bite but the red ones dont. BIG MISTAKE...i didn't hear the end of that from Leon. But there was quite a bit of them on this little bush. Anyways, russ cooked up breakfast and hurried to pack up because he had to get back to go to the Temple with Sharla and Shain. So him and Jaylee headed off and we finished packing the horses and getting ready and we started off. I was dreading that part the whole entire time. But to tell the truth, it wasn't as bad as i thought. It was quite fun and I keep telling them that i will NEVER go back because it was scary, but i probably will.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Time for some memories! Here are the rules.
1. As a comment on my blog, leave a memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember! If we're only blogging friends, write about a post that is most memorable. If you don't have a blog and don't know how to sign in, please comment as anonymous.
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll be sure to write one about you... either on your blog, in my comment box, or I will email you back!
3. If you can't say something nice, don't say nothin' at all!

Cousins that LOVE each other!!

CUTE!!

Papa and his FAVORITES!!

Cabin Fun

So i decided that it is past due of updating the blog....i was doing so good at first but now i am not so good. But last weekend we decided to go up to the cabin at the last minute on Saturday. We left Enterprise around 2:30 in the afternoon and then went to Walmart after we got to Cedar because we needed to get my my some diapers. We got done there and decided to head on up. Cozy called right after we got done at Walmart and said that Travis had just gotten up there and that there was a diesel wreck and that we might have to wait a few minutes because they only had one lane open. Well we got up just past Milt's steakhouse and got stopped. We could see where the truck had lost the brakes and they had it somewhat cleaned up enough and were letting the people come down the mountain and we were just waiting to go up. Well a Motor home got their brakes hot and ended up hitting a boulder and some other cars. Well then like 10 minutes later here comes up 2 more ambulances and 1 more firetruck and then they ended up closing the road for over 3 more hours. So we had to turn around and go up through Brian head. Mom and dad ended up coming up. We ended up getting to the cabin about 7:45 pm. But mom and dad only stayed for 2 hours and then came home. Travis, Lindsey, and Madyson went home about a 1/2 hour after that. Us and cozy's family stayed the night...it was quite fun. The picture of Mylee SCREAMING is because of uncle Bub....The weekend before that - which would have been the 4Th weekend - he started the vacuum and stuck it to her belly and scared the poop out of her. He traumatized her. But unfortunately, uncle Joel has to pay for it too because she cries if she sees him too.....sorry Joel...kiss butt a little more.

4th of July Weekend

On Thursday night, the 3rd, we rode down to gunlock and went to the rodeo. We met Bingham and Tammy down there and Jon & Bingham roped. They didn't do that great. A 6.45 won and they got 6.74 plus 5 because jonny only got 1 leg. They would have taken 2nd place but oh wells.
On the 4th, I had to be to work at 5:30 in the morning and worked until 11 in the morning. Then after that we rode to Newcastle and hung out. Russ and Lacey had left Taylin with Tammy because they rode up north to get their "new" car they just bought. And while we were down to Leon's house Jon went out and got a hound puppy. Taylin loved it so she was sharing it with Mylee. She kept kissing it and then she would hand Mylee the puppy to kiss and she didn't like that too much but it was pretty dang cute. That night we went to the rodeo again but this time they didn't do good. Bingham didn't catch. But they still had fun.
Saturday we rode up to the mountain to see my family. It was pretty fun. We talked Russ and Lacey into coming up and eating dinner and watching the UFC fight with us. Us girls went down to the little parade they do at Duck Creek Village. Jay had a lot of fun..they threw her lots of candy and a Frisbee. Then we went back and watched the fight. It was an AWESOME fight..so I hear...i fell asleep the last 2 rounds of the main event. Rampage looks like one MEAN TOUGH guy that i wouldn't want to get pissed off. After the fight we headed home..it was pretty late. Thanks Russ and Lacey for coming up to the cabin.

Family Camping Trip to Pine Grove

This past weekend we went camping with Russ and his family. We headed out Friday evening and camped at Pine Grove. We took Cozy's boys and JayLee was glad because she had Carter to play with. Jace just drove the four wheeler all weekend getting stuck in the mud and having fun. The boys brought their coyote dogs and went coyote hunting while us girls stayed at camp. We went fishing quite a bit and caught a fish about every time we casted out. It was pretty dang fun and none of us wanted to come home.

Mylee's First Baby Tony

This has got to be one of the cutest baby horses i have ever seen.....We keep telling Papa that it is Mylee's, but i don't think it is working. But maybe if we keep saying it is, it might turn out that way---ha ha. On Father's Day we cooked a good dinner and then ate cheesecake. It was a lot of fun. Then Jon decided that Mylee needed to ride HER baby tony (that is what Jay calls baby horses). So Jon held him and i put her on him and she started kicking, getting all excited. It was so dang cute. So he had aunt Chana come out and take a picture of her. CUTE CUTE CUTE

Opening Ceremonies

Last Thursday we rode over to Cedar and went to Kaylie's house and had dinner with all of her friends. We weren't really invited and i had only met Dan and Abbey before but they were very nice and let us eat dinner with them....thanks guys for letting us intrude. Then we went and watched the fireworks at the College. I was quite surprised that Mylee didn't scream....she loved them. She just sat there and stared up in the sky watching them, not minding a bit how loud they were. It was quite fun.

Weekend Fun

Jon & I watched Cozy's boys over this past weekend and they had a blast. Cozy came out Thursday and did nails and left the boys and then her & Joel went up north to buy them a new pickup. So Friday night Jon & Jace rode the horses out to the arena and roped all night. Then Saturday we got up and went to New Castle. Carter loved playing with the puppies that were at Jay's house. We went to the railroad tracks to smash pennies and were out there for 3 hours and didn't see a train. So we came back and went down to grandma Bea's and visited for a little bit and went out her back door and her sprinklers were on so we all decided to run through them. I guess i shouldn't say all of us because it was only Tammy, me, and the kids that dared run through the sprinkler. But after that we went back down to Papa's house and the kids got in the handcart and Jace pushed them around. That evening they roped again in New Castle. Sunday we went to church and then went back to New Castle. The kids wanted to ride in the cart again and they wanted to take the puppies for a ride so that is were these picture come from. The boys didn't want to go home.

Why the Background

So you may wonder why i chose the temple background when Jon & I haven't been sealed together. I have plans to go there and get sealed to Jon and have Mylee sealed to us - its just a matter of time. I am so proud of Jon and how far he has come since i started hanging around him. One of the happiest days of my life was on Nov 8, 2007. We had only been married 5 months and he decided to quit chewing. I had NO idea he was quitting. He was headed bear hunting with Cody to the boulders and i asked if he needed some money for chew. He told me No and i left it at that. Well through the weekend i got thinking about it and realized he had not bought any for quite some time. So i called him and asked him why and he told me that he was trying to quit and that he didn't want to tell me he had quit and just wanted to see how long it would take me to figure it out. Well he hasn't touched it since that date. He has totally cut WAY WAY back on drinking. In fact i can't tell you the last time i have seen him drink. It really surprises that he doesn't drink with his dad. In fact he has been getting after Leon to cut back and realize that he is wasting his life away and that he needs to be here to watch his grandkids grow. I am so thankful to the Lord for Jon. My mom and dad wasn't to excited when they found out that we were getting married. My siblings all gave me crap. But i think that they didn't know the real Jon that i knew. I knew that behind all the chewing, smoking, & drinking there was a guy full of potential to be a great husband and dad. Boy was i RIGHT. And i do have to say that in my opinion he is the favorite Son-in-law. (sorry Cozy-haha) Ok maybe not but they have come to love him as one of their own.
Jon actually went to church with me today and helped me with my primary class. I teach CTR 6 which is 5 year olds turning 6. I have 12 of them in my class and believe me -with all their energy and mylee, it is a handful. But when i got called to this position, it was Blane Farnsworth that i had the interview with and he told me that they were wanting to call Jon as my helper. He asked me if it would push Jon further away from the church if they did or if he needed a little push to get him going to church again. My honest opinion, he needs a little push. I went home and warned him that Blane might be calling him. Well that was at the first of the year and nothing has been done. Jon keeps asking, "I thought Blane was going to call me?" He is joking but i think he needs an "excuse" to go. So there is hope for him to start getting active in the church again and for us to be sealed. Him and by brother have a bet going on jokingly of who is going to go through the temple first. It is quite entertaining for the most part. I know that my dad has had quite a bit of influence on Jon. And Jon keeps telling me that maybe my dad was put in as Bishop to help a certain person. I honestly believe it is Jon.
I keep praying that i can be a good example jon and that someday he can take me and Mylee to the temple so that we can be a family for the eternities.

Bear Hunt 2008 in Moab
